Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church

Religous
The renovation of the interior of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, was a series of smaller projects that culminated into one. Our initial involvement was the design of the custom made entry doors, from the Narthex into the Nave of the church. As the Architect I was able to work with several creative artists, one of whom is my oldest daughter Amberose Micallef, of Jaunty Fruit Studios, Loren Schuman, of Schuman Glass Art of Sarasota, and Dennis Wiederhold, of Wiederhold Enterprises Inc. of Bradenton. After meeting with the Rev. Frederick J. Tillotson, O.Carm. pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, he requested that three saints and one blessed were to be on each of the doors entering the church. St. John of the Cross, St. Therese of Lesieux, St. Mother Theresa of Calcutta, and Blessed Titus Brandsman. Amberose was the conceptual artist, Loren was the carved glass artisan, Dennis was the wood craftsman, and I designed the custom made doors and hardware. The final doors are a one of a kind work of art, where the talents of each of the artisans involved, showed off their God given gifts.
